How deep can they get?

  • How deep can they get?

Here is a typical example of this question asked.

"I was out a couple weeks ago detecting and dug a presidential dollar at about 2 inches. Now,after I found out that the James Madison didnt come out untill Nov. of 2007,it left me wondering how did it get 2 inches under the ground that quickly? I know we have had a bunch of rain but jeez,It was under heavy grass also, not just dirt.Does anyone have any thoughts on how deep a coin can get through natural processes like rain, shifting, etc. Also does anyone think there may be a limit,or can a coin get down to 3 or 4 ft. or deeper? Just some thoughts , Happy pondering.

Thanks,
Inquirer"
