"Anyone using blackwidow headphones? I got a pair of Black Widows in the offseason w/some Christmas money. I read the short sheet that explains the two toggles. the right is for on/off (while diggin/whatever) and the left is a limiter switch.
I use them w/my explorer se and hear no difference between a hard hit, soft hit, low pitch, or high pitch. Detectorpro explained that they haven't tried them w/an explorer. They did offer to check them out for me. Before i send them in, I was wondering if anyone has used them w/an explorer and finds the same result? Detectorpro explained that the explore has a built in limiter, therefore the signal is already getting limited before the headphone output."
Thanks,
Inquirer"
Answer from Doug Gries: "The only thing that I have noticed about the two switches is that one of them seems shuts off the sound from my detector the other makes no difference. I can tell you that the Black Widows are the best that I have tried. I did use the Gray Ghost before and the Black Widows sound and noise blocking are the best."
Answer from Richard White: "I have a pair of Black Widows and I love em! I have an EXII and for me getting them was a definate improvement...Sitting on top of two allison t-56 turbo props left-side of a US Navy P3C U-II took it's toll the listners. I had been using the standard set that came with my detector when i bought it from Kellyco. I got the upgraded ones for like $39 extra and thought i was doing good, but the ole BWs and minelab EX II are hard combination to beat... ...but I gotta tell ya nothing beats good research."
Answer from Chuck Williams: "Both Jim and I both use Gray Ghost Headphones from DetectorPro and we both love them. Jim has the Black Widow model and I have the NDT (for No Down Time) Model. Also, we have both just recently returned them for repair and have received super service. His had a problem due to loose wire after much usage and I had dropped mine on the frozen ground and broken the switch. Both of our headphones were out of warranty. However, both of us had our headphones repaired at no charge (not even S & H) and returned within about one week. Now, that is super service.
I would recommend the Gray Ghost headphones for anyone metal detecting. I hadn't realized just how good they were until I had returned them for service and had to go back to the old ones that came with my Minelab Explorer-XS Detector."
