Our Charter
MICHIGAN TREASURE HUNTERS is an organization for those people who enjoy all kinds of treasure hunting. Metal detecting coin and jewelry, relic hunting, bottle digging and ghost town searching, to name just a few. A bonus treasure is found in the fellowship with others who are also interested in our hobby-treasure hunting!!!
In existence since 1974, our club's primary objective is the promotion of treasure hunting, while keeping proper conservation measures in mind, and teaching correct treasure hunting techniques. Our club's motto is "WE LEAVE IT CLEANER THAN WE FOUND IT."
One of the highlights of our activities is our annual Open House exhibit. Members display coins, bottles, relics or treasures they have found. Also on display are different makes and models of metal detectors, with club members demonstrating their proper use and care. They also enjoy sharing with the public their particular interest in treasure hunting.
Michigan Treasure Hunters teaches the beginning hobbyist how to use their detectors and selects locations for club activities that can yield hours of treasure hunting enjoyment. Some of the planned events include a Spring Warm Up Hunt, Mini-hunts, weekend outings, a July Picnic, buried Token Hunts, Fishbowl Hunt, and our Open Fall Hunt held each September.
A regular monthly meeting is held which features a guest speaker, movie or slide presentation, or club member engaging in the sharing of treasure hunting experiences or hints. All activities center around family participation. Hunts may be enjoyed by the very young as well as the senior citizen.
If you are interested in treasure hunting, or now own a metal detector, Michigan Treasure Hunters welcomes you. We invite you and your family to join us at a meeting. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, either on our hobby of treasure hunting, or about our club. Please keep us in mind while treasure hunting- LEAVE IT CLEANER THAN YOU FOUND IT!!
